We collect information directly from you when you contact us, complete our website contact form, correspond with us by email or work with Type & Thread on a project. Our website is built and hosted using Squarespace and uses Squarespace's built-in contact form and analytics tools. We also use Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors use the website. How we use your information

• Google, including Google Workspace, Gmail, Google Drive and Google Analytics;

• Dropbox, which we use for file and project storage; and

• professional advisers or other service providers where reasonably necessary to operate our business or meet our legal obligations.

These organisations may process personal information on our behalf in connection with the services they provide. We may also disclose personal information where required to do so by law, regulation, court order or another lawful authority, or where reasonably necessary to establish, exercise or defend our legal rights. If a project requires us to share your personal information with another third party for a purpose you would not reasonably expect, we will explain this where appropriate before doing so.

Some of the third-party technology and service providers we use may store or process personal information outside the UK. Where personal information is transferred internationally, we take appropriate steps to ensure it is protected in accordance with applicable data protection law and that appropriate safeguards or transfer mechanisms are in place where required.

How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including to meet legal, accounting and reporting requirements. As a general guide, information relating to enquiries and projects may be retained for between 90 days and three years, depending on the nature of the enquiry or our relationship with you. Certain records may need to be retained for longer where necessary to comply with legal, tax or accounting obligations, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. We may retain archived design and project files for longer where there is a legitimate business reason to do so. Where archived project files contain personal information, we will continue to protect that information appropriately and will not retain it for longer than reasonably necessary.

How we protect your information

We take reasonable and proportionate steps to protect the personal information we hold against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure. Information may be stored using trusted third-party services including Google Workspace, Google Drive and Dropbox. While no internet-based service or method of electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure, we take appropriate steps to protect the information entrusted to us.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have rights in relation to your personal information. Depending on the circumstances and the lawful basis on which your information is being processed, these may include the right to:

• ask for access to the personal information we hold about you;

• ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;

• ask us to delete your personal information in certain circumstances;

• ask us to restrict how your information is used;

• object to certain uses of your personal information;

• receive certain personal information in a portable format; and

• withdraw your consent where we are relying on consent.

You also have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests in certain circumstances.
